Technical Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training Authority (TEVETA) has certified 148 heavy mining equipment operators from Kansanshi Mine for their competence in the discipline.
And First Quantum Mining (FQM) Training Systems Coordinator Paul Lloyd says the certified operators from Kansanshi Mine were recognized as the highest qualified after undergoing an average of eight months of training spread over several years.
Mr Lloyd adds that the partnership between FQM and TEVETA has brought changes that are already yielding positive results, which was not the case with a mere permit, which becomes invalid the moment an operator leaves the company.
Meanwhile, 40-year-old beneficiary of the training and veteran operator Lloyd Mponda has praised the company for supporting the welfare of operators at the mine.
