This is an opportunity from the Yasmin El-Rufai Foundation (YELF).
The YELF Creative Writing Workshop will
consist of intensive creative and editorial
workshops that will be organized every
year.
These workshops will be run by
established writers/editors and aim to
impart editing and writing skills to
carefully and meritoriously selected
attendees.
The workshop will alternate yearly in the
following stratified genres/fields:-
1. Prose (Fiction)
2. Prose (Nonficiton)
3. Poetry
4. Drama/Playwriting
5. Translation (Hausa/English Translations)
YELF expect to work with emerging writers
with a sustained writing past but that are
yet to publish a full length book at no
expense to the participants.
YELF will only be able to accommodate 10
participants, so applicants are required to
submit a maximum of 700 words of their
best fiction writing.
Closing date for applications is 14
September 2018. If successful,
participants will receive confirmation by
17 September 2018.

subject should read “YELF Creative
Writing Workshop 2018”.
The body of the e-mail should contain
following:
1. Your Name
2. A short bio not more than 200 words
with relevant publishing history.
3. An unpublished prose fiction writing
sample of not more than 700 words
written in English and submitted twice
in word format. One sample submitted
with your name on it and the other
without.
4. Your availability to travel between
24th-30th September 2018 and other
dates after being given prior notice.
Your sample of work must be included as
an attachment in your mail.
Applications not following the rules will
automatically be disqualified.
The working language of the workshop is
English.
Selection process:
Applicants will be selected by a panel
appointed by Yasmin El-Rufai Foundation.
The panel’s decision will be final and non-
appealable.
Deadline for submission is September 14,
2018. Only those accepted will be notified
by September 17, 2018.
Details regarding
dates of workshop will be
communicated upon approval of
participation.
