Young Africans Leaders Initiative (YALI) has advised United Party for National Development (UPND) to put national
interest first before banning its MPs from attending state
functions.
YALI Governance Advisor Isaac Mwanza says state functions
are vital for the opposition as it is the platform where
matters of national interest are resolved.
Mr. Mwanza says the MPs can still continue attending state
functions even during the petition as they are representing
people who elected them.
He added that shunning away from state events may affect
the development of the country as there will be no
representation from other parts of the country.
Mr. Mwanza says the foundation of UPND is based on
national unity and that it is important for UPND president
Hakainde Hichilema to observe that principle.
