Police warns the general public to desist from circulating the pornographic video involving Bobby East and Ruth Mukanga

In a statement police deputy spokesperson Rae Hamoonga said “Any person who takes part or has in their possession obscene material which can be in writing, drawing, painting, printed matter, pictures, posters, photographs and cinematography films or any manner whatsoever and puts them in circulation is liable for prosecution,".  

Zambia Police Service has since warned people sharing the sex video involving musician Robert  Chungu stage name Bobby East, a diploma holder in Marketing and a former Zambia Centre for Accountancy Studies (ZCAS) student and Ruth Mukanga who is a Model and National Institute for Public Administration (NIPA) Human Resources student. The subject will be charged with distribution and production of pornographic material.

In addition, the Zambia Police Service stance on the matter is that it will work with the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) to investigate the matter and bring the culprits to book. “We will involve ZICTA and whoever is found wanting will be charged for circulation of obscene material with intent to corrupt public morals, contrary to section 177(1) of the Penal Code Cap 87 of the Laws of Zambia,” said Hamoonga.

Police deputy spokesperson said the offense carries a maximum of five years imprisonment.
