As a teenager, she rebelled and refused to take her antiretrovira medication. She became very ill and became blind and partially deaf.
Instead of being angry or resentful, she learned braille within a few months and has now dedicated her life and time to ensuring that persons with disabilities (especially those who are blind) are reached with HIV prevention messages and services.
