Global Platform Zambia (GPZ) in Lusaka has empowered 23
citizen journalists with skills and knowledge.
The 23 journalists were drawn from all walks and were
young people between 16-35 who had the potential to drive
change in their everyday lives, at national level and in
international arenas.
One of the participants, Winston Muleba, a youth from
Ndola says the training was insightful and all participants
expressed the spirit of team work through out the training.
Mr Muleba says corporate institutions should consider
teaming up with GPZ and support the citizen journalism
training.
"If other institutions besides ActionAid come on board to
support this programme, I feel most of the hidden
community challenges will come to light and subsequently
inspire relevant authorities positive actions," he says.
He adds that the trainer of the course, Prudence Nswana
was jovial and very informed.
Meanwhile, Enock Lupikisha from Kabwe also says the training was interactive, informative and standard.
The training took place from 9 to 11th July at GP in Lusaka.
And GPZ is a youth hub, which aims at creating space for and providing strategic capacity development towards the needs and demands of youth.

The vision of the platform is to be a catalyst for youth-led
social, political, and economic change, by empowering
young people to take positive action in local to global
decision making.
The platform strives to create space for and provide
strategic capacities towards the needs and demands of
youth organizations and movements.
GPZ believes that young people hold a tremendous potential
to challenge the political status quo and play a key role in
the fight for a more just and equal world.
The Global Platforms are run by ActionAid offices in 9
countries around the world: Ghana, Denmark, Kenya,
Zambia, El Salvador, Palestine, Jordan, Bangladesh and
Myanmar.
And the Zambian chapter is the newest member of the platform family and
therefore aim at reaching out to youth all across Southern
