Girls Brigade International president Vivian Aitchison says the vision of the group is to ensure that the girl child is protected and made aware of gender based violence.
Speaking at a briefing in Lusaka Ms Aitchison and her counterpart says they have come to attend the United Church of Zambia (UCZ) international Girls Brigade conference and to celebrate 125 years of the girls’ brigade existence that will be held in Livingstone from 21st July to 28th July.
Meanwhile, International Vice President representing Africa Aruk Omori says the conference will help exchange knowledge on how best child marriage can be addressed as it has proven to be difficult in Nigeria.
She says in Nigeria children between the ages of six and seven already know a lot about sex which should not be the case but rather teach the children how to be better citizens in life.
About 300 delegates are expected to attend the Livingstone international conference.
