The seven University of Zambia (UNZA) students who were recently suspended from the institution are seeking an order and declaration from Lusaka High Court that the decision by the university to suspend them is illegal and void as it violates the Higher Education Act.
The seven students were suspended after they were accused of masterminding the protest following a 10 minutes power outage at UNZA last month.
The seven are seeking an injunction restraining the University from denying them access to the University facilities.
The students are also claiming damages for mental strain and anguish arising as a result of the suspensions.
