Ndola City Council (NCC) has announced new prices for burial permits at council owned cemeteries.
Public relations manager Tilyenji Mwanza
says the development is effective from 1st January 2018.
“Ndola City Council would like to announce that with effect from 1st January 2018, charges for burial at Council owned
cemeteries have been revised as follows:
Burial at Kantolomba Cemetery will now cost K50, at Kawama Cemetery it will cost K50, at Kawama Special Cemetery it will cost K200, at Mitengo Cemetery it will cost K1,000, and at Kansenshi Cemetery it will cost K25,000,” she says.
She says the revision in prices follows a council resolution made on 28th September, 2017.
Ms Mwanza discloses that the Local Authority has not adjusted prices upwards since 2014, despite an increase in the cost of living in the intervening years.
The manager has since urged members of the public with queries to go through to the Local Authority as the offices are available to give clarity on any matter affecting the council.
Ms Mwanza has also dismissed reports from some media outlets that it has hiked all burial permits to K15,000.
“This story is totally fabricated and falls in the category of fake news,” she said.
