Shiloh Arts Institute plans to empower street kids with skills in film production.
Speaking in Lusaka, Evans Chisenga, the Director said Shiloh Arts was targeting to empower 1,000 street kids from various cities and towns.
He said the empowerment will start with Lusaka which has the highest number of street kids.
Mr. Chisenga said his institute was targeting to train more than 100 street kids in Lusaka before spreading the training programmes to other parts of the country.
He explained that the institute was still looking for logistics and equipment needed to conduct training for street kids who he said were in dire need of skills empowerment for them to be self-reliant and move out of the streets.
Mr. Chisenga further said there was need for concerted efforts from government and private companies and individuals to remove street kids from the streets especially in densely populated cities where they are mostly found.
He disclosed that Shiloh Arts institute has in the past empowered school going children and the disabled persons with skills in film production as a way of improving their livelihood.
Mr. Chisanga said every citizen of Zambia should be concerned with the welfare of street kids who have strayed from their homes because of challenges they faced in their communities.
Shiloh Arts Institute is one of the schools that train actors, actresses and film producers and directors in Zambia.
