Chisanga appointed as ZDA Director General

The Board of the Zambia Development Agency (ZDA) is pleased to announce that Mr. Patrick Daniel Chisanga has been appointed as Director General of the ZDA in accordance with Section 11 (1) of the ZDA Act No. 11 of 2006. 

Mr. Chisanga takes over from Mr. Andrew Chipwende who managed the ZDA for almost seven (7) years from the time ZDA became operational in 2007 after the amalgamation of five statutory bodies; namely, Zambia Investment Centre, Zambia Privatisation Agency, Export Board of Zambia, Small Enterprise Development Board and Zambia Export Processing Zones Authority. Mr. Chipwende contributed greatly towards ensuring the successful amalgamation of five (5) institutions into a One Stop Shop Agency for all investors. The Board believes that the ZDA is now fully established to perform according to the mandate of the ZDA Act No. 11 of 2006 and to the expectations of stakeholders in fostering economic growth and development in Zambia through promotion and facilitation of trade and investment. 

The Board is therefore pleased that Mr. Chisanga has accepted this special assignment of turning around, re-engineering and transforming the ZDA. Having spent nearly 30 years in the public and corporate sectors of Zambia, serving as Chief Executive, Chairperson and Advisor of many organisations and companies as well as his active involvement in Rotary International at global level; the Board has no doubt and is very confident that Mr. Chisanga is the right person to drive the strategy of transforming the ZDA. 

He brings to the table appropriate professional qualifications, strong leadership qualities, organisational skills and other competencies required to take ZDA to another level. Mr. Chisanga is also a fellow of the Institute of Chartered Secretaries and Administrators (UK), a fellow of the Institute of Directors of Zambia, is a member of the Institute of Directors of Southern Africa, is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Commonwealth Association of Corporate Governance; and is currently a member of the Global Corporate Governance Forum Private Sector Advisory Group of the World Bank. He has once served as president of the Lusaka Golf club where he is currently serving as a Trustee.
