Ladies and gentlemen please double check who you put on your CV as a referee.

This week I was conducting interviews and while I was in the interview, I was impressed with a certain candidate CV and personality and I  would want to hire him but his previous employer claims she doesn't  know him at all. He was shocked and the whole panel had a soft spot for this candidate and we phoned the previous employer while he was there and she said she doesn't even know him. 

After a few minutes he phoned her and the phone was on loudspeaker and pretended to just check up on her and if the have any vacant position. she was all sweet and nice and she even wished him luck in finding a job. We were all shocked in the room.Luckily, we hired him.

My advice is please check who you put on your CV as a referee; maybe they are the reason why you are not being hired.
