President of the Republic of Zambia, Hakainde Hichilema has officiated officiate the ground breaking ceremony of First Quantum Minerals’ (FQM) Enterprise Nickel Project, which is Zambia’s newest mine in Kalumbila of Northwestern Province.
His Excellency says this project underpins unwavering commitment to create a conducive and fair environment for both local and international investors that will encourage innovation and create opportunities for local businesses.
The President says with FQM as a major contributor to the national revenues, the increased revenue from this project will help government support other critical social sectors like healthcare, education, CDF and social protection.
Mr Hichilema says this project marks a key step in Zambia’s push towards mineral diversification which will help insulate the economy from external shocks.
The President has since thanked FQM for the faith in the New Dawn Government in bringing such a milestone investment into Zambia.
