Prophet Emmanuel Nyirongo: Was he a true prophet or an experienced alchemist?

By Andrew Zaraki Nguvu

Recently the media was reporting the untimely death of one of Zambia’s entertaining prophet, who died at the age of 29 in a brutal car wreck. It is very unfortunate that he lost his life at such a tender age, May his precious soul rest in perfect peace and it is very sad that his ministry has been cut short. It is very true that death is inevitable and consequently conquers all men regardless of their social or religious affiliation because to be alive means to expect a visit from death at some point, sooner or later all men are destined to die.

The late prophet was prominent for his dramatic miracle which saw him turn ordinary drinking water into usable kerosene, very similar to the first miracle Jesus performed when he attended that wedding and turned water into wine. It is evident that in the book of Matthew 28:18-20, Jesus came and said to the people,“ all authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Go therefore, and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you. And behold, I am with you always, to the end of the age.” Jesus is also quoted to have said through the book of John 14:12 ‘’very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.’’

From a modern point of view, converting water into a form of fuel seems such a greater miracle than turning water into wine; because in our time fuel is useful unlike wine which makes a man drowsy and sinful. Could this miracle have been an indicator that the late prophet was a strong believer and his faith led him to perform greater works than Jesus?

However, Jesus also warned the Christians in the book of Matthew 24:24 that ‘’in the last days false messiahs and false prophets will rise up and perform great signs and wonders so as to deceive, if possible, even God's chosen ones.” This certainly presents a twist in the matter; could this dramatic miracle mean the late prophet is one of the false leaders that Jesus warns sternly against? Which is which?

Jesus refrained from performing miracles for amusement or attention, when he was alone in the wilderness the giver of light tempted Jesus to perform a unique miracle; to levitate. This was not to amuse anybody because nobody was watching but this was to save his own life. Even in private; Jesus declined and is quoted in the book of Matthew 4:7 to have answered HIM, “It is also written: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’ If Jesus declined to perform a miracle to save his own life in private, why do the modern prophets like Prophet Shepherd Bushiri perform miracles; record them and flood social media with dramatic video footage of their miracles? Are they being genuine or are they seeking attention for their lucid magic antics?

A distant but careful analysis of the curious case of the late Prophet Nyirongo raises one fundamental concern; was he genuinely a man of God? Or was he just another fraudster with extraterrestrial or magical abilities that decided to earn a living by selling false hope to the desperate masses that are relentlessly pursuing salvation? Did he care about the people he impacted or was he a cunning manipulator deceiving gullible people?

To answer this concern, I urge every well-meaning and upright Christians to refer to the Holy Bible; it is important to note that I am not taking any side but simply being fair and objective. The Christian bible in the scripture 2-Thessalonians 3:3 clearly advises and assures all believers that ‘‘the Lord is faithful. He will establish you and guard you against the evil one.’’ Not only that but the scripture Psalm 138:7 through the prayer of God’s chosen one says that ‘’though I walk in the midst of trouble, you preserve my life; you stretch out your hand against the wrath of my enemies, and your right hand delivers me.’’ The book of Isaiah 54:17 encourages God’s children that ‘’no weapon that is fashioned against you shall succeed, and you shall refute every tongue that rises against you in judgment. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD and their vindication from me, declares the LORD.” Lastly but not the least; the book of Psalm 46: says ‘’God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble.’’

Not only that, but the Bible gives practical cases of when God intervened to protect the lives of his chosen children, Chapter 3 of the book of Daniel gives an account of how God saved the lives of his servants Shadrach, Mesheck and Abednego after they were cast in scorching flames. Chapter 6 of the same book illustrates how Daniel was rescued by God from being devoured after he was thrown alive in the den of hungry lions.

It is evident that God protects the lives of those that he has a bond with; it is evident that God will never let those he holds in high esteem to perish. If the late Dr. Prophet was fulfilling God’s purpose why did he meet his end in such a tragic unpredictable manner? Why did he die?

Did God let him die? Death is the ultimate punishment; death is the ultimate price to pay for wickedness. Perhaps to answer this, the Holy Bible clearly says in the book of Romans 6:23 that ‘the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.’ Does this mean this man paid the price of his deception with his life? If God truly needed to use him why did God not spare his life when that vehicle met its fate?

In concIusion,  take a non-religious stance in life and it is not up to me to have a definite answer as to whether late Prophet Emmanuel Nyirongo was a fraud or a genuine prophet. I will not promote or defame his legacy because he is not here among the living to defend himself. I will leave that to the believers and followers to decide.

However it is unfortunate that many Christians of nowadays are carnal Christians who have been misled and are being exploited because they lack reasoning and objectivity, they have not taken time to understand or meditate on the Christian holy book and are simply calling themselves Christians because they are either desperate for some form of miraculous hope or they have a fear of ending up in a place called Hell where it is alleged they will be tormented for eternity.

Many Christians have been deceived because they lack knowledge and information and have only considered Christianity because they need to relieve their conscious or because they are burdened by personal regret and need ‘forgiveness’ to feel better about their lives. Most Christians abuse Christianity like a drug to keep them high whenever life drags them low.
