The President of Zimbabwe, Robert Mugabe, reportedly sacked
his 59-year-old Vice President, Joice Mujuru, alongside eight other
ministers.
An official, who disclosed this to newsmen on December 9, 2014,
Tuesday, said the deputy was fired days after she lost her post in the ruling
party.
The official said the President relieved her of the position weeks after she
was accused of a ‘treacherous cabal’ trying to oust Mugabe.
Reuters news agency gathered that the ousted officials received the
appropriate letters on Monday night.
It was gathered that the sack was confirmed by two government sources,
who spoke on condition of anonymity, because they were not authorized to
speak with the newsmen.
According to Al Jazeera’s Haru Mutasa, who reported from the capital
Harare, the President claimed to have evidence that Mujuru met with US
officials, and in the meeting they plotted a plan to try and remove him
from office.
