Youth unemployment 'a time bomb'

By Obbious Chikombola
Youth Unemployment is indeed a time bomb that is waiting to explode before our very own eyes if concerted efforts is not channeled toward it. This we all agree and attest to it through the pronouncement we have made time and again reminding the government to address this scourge of our time. Youth Unemployment is indeed a continental problem in general but the strides made thus far is what we the youths want to see. We have called on government to give us the youth employment action plan which they promised so of high.

It is however a known fact that the Public Order Act is a necessary evil. Imagine an uncle in Chama District line up the streets to demonstrate that he had not had food for the past three days. Another line up the street that they did not have power during Manchester vs Liverpool Match ,Traders line up the street protesting for not having sold goods in the new modern market. Just imagine the chaos and instability in the nation. The public order act is there to protect and maintain the stability of the nation and sometimes uphold peace and moral dignity. The worst case scenario been the State of Emergency. Scrapping off of the public order act will bring discourse and insubordination in the country where everyone will line up the street and protest anyhow.

The Act is not an evil in itself ,it is how it is used and the extent that it suppresses our individual Liberties and freedom. There is no Doubt ,The public Order Act is a law that should be reviewed but not scraped off for all men are created equal but not all men think the same.

What beats my mind is what should people demonstrate for ?or what form of gathering amounts to disorderly? What sort of association lenders the ordeal a crime. What sort of protest or demonstrations amounts to breach of peace or illegal gathering?

The Question of the UNZA graduate is one that beats my mind .The Law is the Law. Lest the entire Nation rise up and demonstrate on every issue tomorrow. But why should I be stopped from demonstrating when am aggrieved. Well ,the police will tell me to inform them in writing of the purported demonstration. Pilgrim alas the Aluta continues.
