In the early hours of today, most of the Ndola residents were in grief; this was as a result of recurrent and mysterious kidnapping and killing of children. In this vein the people of Ndola from various townships staged road blocks which latter in the afternoon turned into a riot.
In the early hours of today, most of the Ndola residents were in grief; this was as a result of recurrent and mysterious kidnapping and killing of children. In this vein the people of Ndola from various townships staged road blocks which latter in the afternoon turned into a riot.
It is alleged that one of the caught suspects who was beaten to death in Nkwazi townships, after having been beaten to death disclosed that, one of the Ndola businessmen was behind the killing and kidnapping of people for ritual sacrifices. This information angered most of the Ndola residents and in no time they staged riots which eventually stalled most of the business operations in the central business district. Reacting to this action were, Ndola police who tried to calm the incidents with tear gasses. The tear gasses were so intensely fired that most of the people collapsed especially those with asthma and other respiratory diseases.
In the central business district among other infrastructures which were damaged includes Real Masters shops and other people vehicles were burnt. As such people broke the said shop and walked away with different items and appliances among which includes cell phones, radio cassettes, bicycles, TV sets and many others.
Alluding to this development, a police post in Kabushi extension was badly damaged.
