Sometimes the devil dines and wines with you: Not every uncle is a good uncle | WestMac Media

By Muleba Bulawayo
A home is the safest place for the children. They feel well protected in there homes. Home is a resting place for them from all the troubles of this world.

How would you feel as a parent if you learned that 'home' for your children meant hell on Earth? Would you be happy if you learnt that right under your nose, within the confines of your home, your children are defiled and raped? Would you forgive yourself if the only time you get to learn about the horrible pain that your daughter has been going through is when she becomes pregnant or when she contracts sexually transmitted diseases or perhaps when she commits suicide?

Let us take it upon ourselves to be our childrens keepers. They need our time, love, security as much as they need our salaries.

A mother should be the first person to notice hurt in her daughters eyes and change in behaviour. Take time to talk to your children each time you knock off from work no matter how tired you are. Build a special kind of relationship with them that they maybe able to tell you anything regardless of who is involved.

Don't be comfortable to leave children with anyone, NO!!! Some people come in sheep skin and yet they are hungry wolves. If you are a parent in this century and you still feel talking to your children about Sexual Violence is a taboo then both you and your children are headed for doom. As soon as they are old enough to tell their body parts, teach them about defilement. Teach them about all the tricks used by these monsters when tricking young ones.

Sometimes the devil dines and wines with you. You have to be careful. Not every uncle is a good uncle. Teach your children not to sit on any mans laps, not to collect any sweets or anything from any man.

Every child must be taught how to stand up and speak confidently DARE TOUCH ME AND I WILL REPORT YOU TO MY MOTHER!!!!!

The number of defilement and rape cases have continued escalating. Security begins at home and it will be taken to the streets... Break the Silence and say enough is enough....
