The Office of the Secretary-General’s Envoy on Youth (OSGEY), the United Nations Development Programme
(UNDP), the Office of the High Commissioner for Human Rights (OHCHR), the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), the European Youth Forum and the Youth Initiative for Advocacy Growth & Advancement (YIAGA) will lead the launch of a global campaign focused on elevating the issue of young people’s right to run for public office, highlighting the wide-spread issue of age discrimination. The campaign is called “Not Too Young To Run” (NTYTR).
The Not Too Young To Run campaign will be run as an open source global campaign, designed to draw attention to the widespread age discrimination in running for public office. It will provide a platform with resources and content which may be utilized for nationally specific efforts.
The campaign will be officially launched on November 22, 2016 at a side event at United Nations Geneva during the first Forum on Human Rights, Democracy and the Rule of Law.
The event will take place from 1:00pm to 3:00pm in Room XXIII at the Palais des Nations.
