Opinion polls are bogus, causing cyber bullying and contributing to violence

Majority of the people in rural areas do not have access to internet. Worse more, only few Zambian have access to broad internet, currently only 15.4% of the Zambians population have access to the internet. 

This evidently shows that out of the gross population of 14million people only 2million are internet users. 

Nigerian billionaire unseats Oprah as world’s richest black woman

Move over Oprah, Nigerian oil tycoon Folorunsho Alakija is now the richest black woman in the world with an estimated fortune of $7.3 billion. 

Africa boasts 55 billionaires – far more than previously thought – and they’re worth a staggering $143.88 billion in total, according to pan-African magazine Ventures Africa. 

Edgar declines EAZ presidential debate

The Patriotic Front Secretary General Davies Chama has issued media statement stating that Hon. Edgar Lungu will not be available for the EAZ Presidential discussion.

“Members of the media. It is my duty to inform you that our party President Hon. Edgar Chagwa Lungu is currently touring parts of rural Zambia such as Kaputa, Nsama and Mpulungu, as he steps up his cross country campaign gear. This means he will not be available for the EAZ Presidential discussion that the organization organised for today.” said Mr Chama.

Who is Edith Nawakwi?

Edith Nawakwi is Zambia’s first elected woman president of a political party - the Forum for Democratic Development ((FDD) formerly led by retired army general, Christon Tembo). 

She was also Zambia’s first woman Minister of Finance, in 1998, after 33 years of Zambia's independence and the first in the Southern African Development Community (SADC) region.

AirAsia plane with 161 aboard missing in Indonesia

An AirAsia plane with 161 people aboard lost contact with ground control on Sunday after takeoff from Indonesia on the way to Singapore, and search and rescue operations were under way. 

The plane lost communication with Jakarta's air traffic control at 07:24, about an hour before it was scheduled to land in Singapore, the Singapore Civil Aviation Authority said in a statement. The contact as lost about 42 minutes after takeoff from Indonesia's Surabaya airport, Hadi Mustofa, an official of the transportation ministry told Indonesia's MetroTV.

Call for Applications for the Youth Solidarity Fund 2014-2015

Deadline: 12 January 2015 
The Youth Solidarity Fund (YSF) awards grants (up to USD 25,000) to selected projects that demonstrate innovative youth approaches to intercultural or interfaith dialogue. It only supports projects that are entirely developed and managed by youth for the benefit of youth. 

The age definition used by UNAOC to characterize youth is a person who is between 18 and 35 years old.

Please carefully review the Application guidelines and this Annex before completing the Application form.

The former World 400m hurdles champion Matete becomes ZAAA president after being disqualified, barred, blocked and stopped several times by some ZAAA officials from contesting as president.

Who is Elias Chipimo Jr?

Elias Chipimo Jr. (born September 1965) is a Zambian politician and the president of the National Restoration Party. He previously worked as a corporate lawyer and human rights activist. 

Personal History 
Chipimo is the third born in a family of seven. He grew up in Lusaka, but also lived in the United Kingdom, where his father served as a diplomat in the late 1960s.

Petersen appeals to Scott to pardon General Kanene

Following constitutional powers exercised by the Acting President Guy Scott on Christmas day, Petersen has written an open letter calling for General Kanene release from Chimbokaila prisons in Lusaka. 

Dr Scott pardoned former minister of Defense George Mpombo and former deputy Minister of Youth and Sport Stephen Masumba and immediately released them from prison.

Lombe Tembo a Zambian youth has been be selected Chair of the 2015Committee on Governance and Transparency of African Youth Movement.

Lombe has a Bachelor's degree in Economics with Statistics from the University of Zambia. 

She is a member of the Governance and Accountability Task Team, an initiative spearheaded by Restless Development UK and Plan UK. 

Lombe is also a member of the steering committee of the African Network of Youth Policy Experts, with the role of Director of Advocacy, Community Empowerment.

DofE produces Leadership for a Transformed Africa

In October 2013, His Royal Highness, Prince Edward, the Earl of Wessex visited Zambia as a Trustee of the Duke of Edinburgh’s International Association. The purpose of his trip was to upscale the profile of the Duke of Edinburgh International Award for Young People (DofE) in Zambia and to ceremoniously present Gold Awards to 20 young Zambians who had successfully completed the DofE’s highest level. 

As anticipated, Prince Edward’s trip was progressive and attracted an array of new members. It also created significant opportunities for the 20 Gold Award recipients, including securing a platform for two awardees to attend the DofE triennial International Gold Event in Seoul, South Korea in October this year.

Owas Mwape to spend 4320 hours in jail

Saboi Imboela Ex-husband Owas Mwape has been jailed six months for forgery. 

Imboela of the former Shatel is a Zambian songstress. 

Mwape, a film maker and Director of Owas Mwape Crystal films has been jailed on account of forgery and uttering false document by the Lusaka Magestrate Court.

Dr Mumba said MMD is not in any pact with any party. 

Meanwhile MMD National Executive Commitee (NEC) Chairman Kabinga Pande at a media briefing held on saturday in Lusaka said MMD is already in a pact with UPND. 

Mr Pande said the MMD National Executive Committee has resolved to support UPND candidate Hakainde Hichilema in the January 20, 2015 presidential by-election.

Mutubila has low sperm count, artificial insemination was the only option - Evelyn

Former deputy High Commissioner to Italy, Frank Mutubila’s wife Evelyn has filed a cross petition asking the Lusaka High Court to divorce her from her husband citing physical and verbal abuse. 

Evelyn who has denied committing adultery to get pregnant from an Italian man as alleged by Mr Mutibila said she had at one point reported her husband to Italian police authorities for assaulting her.

Gov't reinstates fired nurses

The Ministry of health has reinstated all the nurses that were fired last year following an illegal strike. 

The Minister of Health Joseph Kasonde has since assured the 570 that their previous benefits are intact.  

During a press briefing held on Thursday, 18/12/2014 in Lusaka, Dr Kasonde said reinstated nurses have been re-employed without loss of their benefits and are free to collect their letters of re-engagement from the Ministry of Health.

The United Nations Volunteers (UNV) programme is the UN organization that contributes to peace and development through volunteerism worldwide. UNV is headquartered in Bonn, Germany and has approximately 150 staff positions–with the majority in Bonn and some positions with different UN peacekeeping and political missions, and in other Headquarters locations (e.g. New York and Tokyo).

Mafikizolo regrets, fans demand a refund

The show which was scheduled to take place at Government Complex and anticipated to be  successful  has been described a flop by people who attended.

Mafikizolo group representative said ever since they started coming to Zambia for music performance, their previous shows have been rated successful however, this show was a flop ever adding also that the sound systems organized by the Zambian promoters made the show even more horrible. 

Meanwhile, some fans got upset by inconvenience allegedly caused by the Zambian promoters hence started demanding that their entry fees to the show be refunded. Other fans were very upset that they started hurling bottles at the stage. 

The Mafikizolo team regretted coming for the show, were disappointed and apologized to the fans for the disorganized show.

Buganda Road court has finally sentenced Jolly Tumuhiirwe, the 22 year old housemaid to four (4) years in Jail. 

Tumuhiirwe pleaded guilty to assault of an 18 months old baby.

Area 1 Security, a two-year old Valley startup not yet out of stealth, just raised $8 million for a product that is meant to stop the most impossible hacker attacks, something called "social engineering." 

Social engineering is basically lying to trick people into giving away their passwords or to visiting a malicious website. If hackers are trying to break into a specific network (a "targeted attack") they are going to lay traps that the target is likely to fall for.
