Over the past year, Braeden Quinn,10year old Mannering has packaged and delivered
more than 1,300 bagged lunches around his hometown of Dover,
Deleware, including bottled water, fruit and other healthy snacks to those
in need. In 2013, he won the Healthy Lunchtime Challenge and got the
chance to go to The White House for the Kids’ State Dinner.
Braeden’s idea for Brae’s Brown Bags, also known as 3B, came when he
realized that delivering food to people in need was a simple but effective
way to tackle homelessness in his neighborhood.
“There shouldn't be a world where some people overeat while other people
are starving,” he said.
His idea of delivering bagged lunches to people has reshaped the
community, and he's inspired many around him. He is now traveling and
speaking as a guest to clubs, organizations and most recently at The White
House with First Lady Michelle Obama. His next goal is to write a
children's book to help empower other kids to do good and to help fight
food insecurity, and is working on creating the first ever Kids Hunger
Conference, slated for 2015.
He is proof that that anyone – at any age – can make a difference in one’s
community.
