Minister of Community Development and Social Services
Emerine Kabanshi says 20 thousand women will be
empowered this year under the GEWEL project.
Ms Kabanshi says the project which was launched last year,
empowered 12 thousand women with 2, 000-kwacha grants
each and mobile phones.
She further explains that 40, thousand women will benefit
from the project in 2019, the third and final phase.
Ms Kabanshi has told ZNBC News that it is the resolve of the
government to ensure that women are not left behind.
She said this is why 400 thousand of the 590 thousand
people that received the social cash transfer were women.
