Partners Guide unveils competition finalists

Partners Guide has named its 2015 Young Zambian Business Journalist of the Year Competition finalists.

This year 145 candidates from all corners of Zambia entered for the competition and only 10 applicants were selected. 

Partners Guide is Zambia’s leading business magazine, published by the Partners Group, the publication serves as a vital and useful informative and entertaining resource for business people in Zambia and potential investors by discussing current business, economic, social, technological, environmental, legal and ethical issues in Zambia and acting as a platform for businesses to discuss their latest products, services and developments. 

The successful applicants for this years competition include McPheran Chungu, an International Relations student from Lusaka; Wilson Musonda, a Journalist from Yatsani Station in Lusaka; Diana Ngwenyama, a Radio Journalist from Breeze FM in Chipata; Dingindiba Buyoya, a Radio Dj and Presenter from Comet FM; Winston Muleba, a Freelance Writer, Founder and Editor-in-Chief from WM Media Pty. Ltd in Ndola; Petronella Mkandawire, a Radio Presenter from Hot FM in Lusaka; Kalukeki Kaweza, a Business Student from Lusaka; Tapson Sibande, a Co-Founder and Head Photographer from MfumuHD in Kitwe; Mukuka Mulenga, a Public Administration graduate from University of Zambia (UNZA) and Chimwemwe Mwansa, a Waiter from in Lusaka. 

Speaking during the official opening of the training for the finalists at the Swedish Embassy in Lusaka which started on Monday 20 July and coming to an end on Saturday 25 July, Partners Guide Group Commercial Director and Chief Editor, Ray Willbern said that Partners Guide Travel Magazine is a publication distributed on business class on Kenya Airways on routes connecting Lusaka, Ndola, Livingstone, Harare, Lilongwe and Lubumbashi with Nairobi. Statehouse and the Cabinet Office. Every Member of Parliament (MP) in Zambia receives a copy through Parliament, there are numerous corporate subscriptions including several NGOs, embassies and the US Congress Library. Otherwise, the magazine can be bought in Shoprite, Spar and Pick n Pay and can be found in a number of leading hotels in Zambia. 

Mr Willbern added that the winner of each category (Print, Broadcast and Photo Journalism) and the overall will be announced at an Awards Ceremony at Intercontinental Hotel in Lusaka on Tuesday 28 July. 

And the Swedish Ambassador to Zambia, Her Excellency, Lena Nordstrom urged Journalists to report the truth and balance their reports.

Last year’s winner, David Ngenda, won an all-expenses paid trip to Stockholm, Sweden.
