THE highest learning institution, the University of Zambia students from Great East Road Campus have resorted to demonstrating over the delayed me allowances. The demonstration barely comes after five students were apprehended by Zambia Police from Great East Road Campus on Wednesday, November 12th, 2014.
A student from the University of Zambia confirmed with WM Media that the development is as a result students trying to press for an increase in the meal allowances and also fight for the delayed meal allowances for tem one.
“The meal allowances for term one have not been fully paid and other students were omitted for the first part payment, therefore students are demonstrating so that the government responds. “Said a student.
Some levels of some hostels caught fire and student were jumping from windows.
Meanwhile, Zambia Police advised Motorists to use alternative routes as Great East Road was not safe.
