Kasisi Agriculture Training Centre (KATC) Deputy Executive Director has confirmed that Zambia will this October have its first ever oats processing plant.
He said this project will be driven by KATC which is currently cultivating 50 hectares of wheat and 25 hectares of oats in Lusaka Kasisi area.
“This value addition process will see Zambia process its oats to groat and will sell the excess wheat to millers,” he said.
The Deputy Director added that he was confident of finding fit in competition as it was the only entity that was processing organic foods.
And Public Relations Manager for Lusaka City Council Ms. Brenda Katongola visited KATC today in readiness for the Food Agriculture Organisation – FAO Conference on food sustainability in urban cities where Lusaka Mayor Wilson Kalumba will be making a presentation
where KATC projects will be show cased.
