Government urges youth to go into entrepreneurship

Livingstone Acting District Commissioner James Zimba has challenged youths to go into entrepreneurship instead of idling.

Mr. Zimba says youths should desist from citing high unemployment levels in the country as a challenge but instead focus on contributing to the country’s growth through self-employment.

UNZA students exchange stones for teargas with Zambia police over delayed allowances, go-slow

ZB empowers five graduates from the House of Moses orphanage with sewing machines

Zambian Breweries (ZB) has empowered five less-privileged graduates from the House of Moses (HoM) orphanage in Lusaka with sewing machines to help them start up their own tailoring business, earn some income and support their families.

CYC warns youth organizations

Commonwealth Youth Council (CYC) has warned youths and organizations to be responsible in using its name & logo. 

The Council says the logo and name of CYC is a copyright that is licensed to Commonwealth Youth Council and any usage needs prior written permission. 

In a statement monitored by WM Media, the Council says it was not associated in any way with a one day Sokoto youth and leadership forum and award presentation that was organized by Ministry of youths and sports development, Sokoto on 26th May, 2017.

Lusaka PF youth chairperson condemns UPND naked protest

Patriotic Front (PF) Lusaka provincial youth chairperson Kennedy Kamba has condemned yesterday's United Party for National Development (UPND) naked protest. 

Mr Kamba has since wondered why Mutale Nalumango, Garry Nkombo and others had their clothes on while they paraded poor naked old women and drunk young men before the cameras.

Facebook founder finally graduates from Havard University

In a status update of sorts, Facebook, Inc. (FB) CEO Mark Zuckerberg, who created the social network in his dorm room at Harvard University, has finally graduated from the institution this May. 

Zuckerberg was scheduled to deliver the commencement address to this year's graduates at his alma mater and also received an honorary degree from there. 

Young people demand rights, sexual and reproductive health information

Sexual and reproductive health and rights information, education and evidence-informed data are key to ensuring that young people know how to protect themselves from HIV and access HIV testing and treatment. This was the main message from an event—Breaking Down Barriers to Youth Empowerment—organized by the Permanent Mission of Denmark to the United Nations in Geneva and UNAIDS and held on 24 May, on the sidelines of the 70th World Health Assembly.

UN offers to prepare young developing country professionals to lead climate action

The United Nations is helping to ensure that young professionals from developing countries are able to contribute to the implementation of the Paris Climate Change Agreement and the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals with the help of a new fellowship programme run by two key UN agencies based in Bonn, Germany. 

The fellowship initiative will offer work experience in a vibrant international policy environment at the UN Climate Change Secretariat (UNFCCC).

Japan International Award for Young Agricultural Researchers (Japan Award) 2017

Barclays funds ZDA youth initiative

Zambia Development Agency has received over Seven Hundred Thousand Kwacha from Barclays Bank Zambia to implement the Shared Growth initiative dubbed “ReadyToWork”. 

Speaking at a media breakfast yesterday when she was handing over the cheque to ZDA, Barclays Bank Zambia Managing Director Mizinga Melu said the partnership aims at assisting youths secure employment or start their own businesses.
