Copperbelt University (CBU) students have commended Government for releasing funds to pay their accommodation and project allowances.
And calm has returned to the CBU after students ran riot on Sunday night over delayed payment of accommodation and project allowances.
Copperbelt University Students Union (COBUSU) vice-president Miselo Mumba said in an interview in Kitwe yesterday that students at the institution have started
receiving their accommodation and project allowances.
Mr Mumba said the students are happy with Government’s decision to address their problems.
He said the students have promised to concentrate on their studies to avoid disturbances to the academic calendar.
Mr Mumba urged Government to expedite the payment of their meal allowances.
“The issue of project and accommodation allowances has been resolved. Students are receiving allowances. We are happy that Government has finally released the funds. We are looking forward to the payment of meal allowances,” Mr Mumba said.
Meanwhile, calm has returned to CBU after students ran riot over delayed payment of accommodation and project
allowances.
Mr Mumba said the COBUSU leadership will ensure peace and tranquillity prevail at the institution and urged CBU management to immediately lift suspensions of eight union representatives.
