Copperbelt University Student Union (COBUSU) has ordered that no student should attend classes until Government respond to their demand.
In a statement made available to WM Media, COBUSU Secretary General Alfred Lukwesa stated that in the best interest of safeguarding the academic welfare and paving way for a celebrated 2016 for the students, on 4th January there shall be a class boycott over allowances entitled to students.
“These allowances will have to be; meal, project and accommodation allowances and will have to be paid to each and every student,” he stated.
Mr. Lukwesa has since warned that should Government fail to meet students demand, further actions will be made.
“I am informing every student that there shall be no one reporting for classes tomorrow until students demands are fulfilled, as resolved after further consultation,” he stated, adding that further action will be taken if need be.
A check by WM Media at the Copperbelt University (CBU) found that some students have not been paid their meal, accommodation, book and project allowances.
