MMD Vice President for Politics Micheal Kaingu told a media briefing this morning the convention will held in 30 days time and all positions will be contested including that of the Party President.
Dr.Kaingu stressed that it is critical for the party to have an extra ordinary convention to change the current crop of leaders because they have lamentably failed to run the party.
Dr.Kaingu has warned that the MMD risks going into extinction if it does not have a convention soon.
And speaking at the same occasion Vice President for administration Dr.Brian Chituwo has refuted assertions by Party President Dr. Nevers Mumba that some senior party officials have been paid by the state to destabilise the MMD.
The MMD has been characterised by internal wrangles from the time it lost power to the Patriotic Front in September 2011.
Meanwhile, MMD Director of Communications in the office of the Party President Muhabi Lungu says party officials who are washing dirty linen in the media have no regard for MMD President Nevers Mumba.
Mr.Lungu says all loyal members of the party are expected to abide by Dr.Mumba’s directive not to use the press as a platform to resolve internal party matters.
Mr. Lungu has stressed that he will not respond to attacks from MMD Spokesperson Dora Siliya as doing so will be disrespectful to Dr.Mumba.
MMD Spokesperson Dora Siliya recently described Muhabi Lungu as a failed politician.
