Some of our people have been ripped-off their hard earned money by unscrupulous fraudsters’. The following are the tips to consider when buying a car.
1. After selecting the vehicle of your choice, ensure that the seller sends the pictures of the vehicle both interior and exterior.
2. Go with a trusted mechanic or someone you are close (never go alone).
3. Do not carry cash (money in the bank).
4. Meet the seller together with the said vehicle in a public place (preferably post office, bank, bus stations).
5. Check the vehicle thoroughly starting from the engine, steering lack, colour of smoke emitted, etc
6. The white book should be accompanied by NRC, or Company Registration Certificate (at no time should these be separated).
7. In the boot, there is a metal plate with inscriptions of the details of the vehicle showing engine number, chassis number and other details ensure that they match with those on the white book.
8. Take a drive even for 20 minutes to feel the worth of the car.
9. If you like the car, then draft the letter of sale, stating owner’s personal details and the buyers. Cars details should not be left out. Ensure you have a witness together with the buyer.
10. Signing can be done at a police
station, the car can even be left their as you go with the seller to withdraw
cash. Then my friend, you are safe and off you go.
Note: Do not let the seller bring out other deals especially the gold and diamonds deals. My friend you will be tricked off your money and you will wish you were not born. These kleptomaniac idiots are sweet talkers, do not adhere to them. Even involving God can be helpful.
