Forum for African Women Educationalists in Zambia (FAWEZA) says there is need to find different approaches of dealing
with teenage pregnancies and child marriages because sometimes, it is not the parents at fault.
FAWEZA says this after a 17-year-old grade 8 girl of Siamankuli Basic School in
Chief Siachitema’s area in Kalomo District opted for marriage at the expense of school.
The named girl who has been out of marriage from the same man twice has told the FAWEZA that her marriage to her
18-year-old husband who also dropped out of school in
grade two is what is important to her.
Meanwhile, mother to the girl, says she does not know what to do to get
the girl back to school.
