Northern Province Youth Development Coordinator Felix Lengwe has bemoaned the failure of youths in the province to pay back the loans obtained under the Youth
Empowerment Programme.
Mr. Lengwe said that despite the province recording tremendous progress in youth projects, some beneficiaries are reluctant to pay back the loans.
He told ZANIS in Kasama today that his office will soon take action against the defaulters of the program, in order to
speed-up the recovery of the loans.
Mr. Lengwe added that his office will come up with new
modalities of collecting loans from beneficiaries as it has
proved difficult under the current terms.
The Youth Provincial Coordinator revealed that government
was aware that youths played a significant role in the
productive sector of the economy hence the decision to
empower them with loans.
