GOVERNMENT has stopped the disbursement of youth
empowerment loans until it devises a better recovery
mechanism following failure by beneficiaries to pay back the
money.
According to Zambia Daily Mail, Minister of Youth, Sport and Child Development Moses
Mawere said in an interview yesterday that the ministry is
still reviewing the programme.
“The only empowerment we have done this year under
Youth Empowerment Fund is to give 100 tricycles and also
information and communication technologies equipment to
60 districts,” he said.
Mr Mawere, however, said the Street Vendors
Empowerment Fund, which is being administered through
the Zambia Postal Services Corporation, is still running.
