Kabwe Municipal Council has dispelled reports that it is planning on chasing street vendors from the street, and clarify that it is merely planning on relocating them to an area more conducive and therefore easy to manage the traders.

Cake, Triggerfish animation studios to co-produce Zambian animation series 'Mama K’s Super 4' | WestMac Media

The European Union (EU) and the United Nations (UN) are embarking on a new, global, multi-year initiative focused on eliminating all forms of violence against women and girls (VAWG) - the Spotlight Initiative. 

The Initiative is so named as it brings focused attention to this issue, moving it into the spotlight and placing it at the centre of efforts to achieve gender equality and women’s empowerment, in line with the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

Medicines Transparency Alliance Coordinator Liyoka Liyoka has urged media houses to help promote safe motherhood, newborn, adolescent morbidity and mortality rates. 

Mr. Liyoka says journalists can help policy makers in making informed decisions if they report health matters affecting the public.

1300 new jobs to be created by Zambeef

Zambeef Plc Chief Executive Officer Francis Grogan says his company will create about 1300 new jobs countrywide through its expansion program. 

Mr Grogan says Zambeef is currently implementing a three year project to construct new macro structures, which will result in 1300 new jobs created countrywide by the end of the project.

Govt to phase out Hiace minibuses which do not provide necessary passenger safety|WestMac Media

Minister of Transport and Communication Brian Mushimba says Toyota Hiace commuter minibuses will not be allowed to operate after January 1, 2018 because they do not provide the necessary passenger safety. 

The Minister says Hiace minibuses originally where they come from are not used to carry people but are used to transport cargo.

Government commits to curb child labour

Chadiza District Commissioner George Phiri has reaffirmed Government’s commitment to eliminate child labour in Zambia. 

Speaking at Sankhani Guest House in Chadiza today during the District Participatory Rural Appraisal Workshop organized by WINROCK International, Mr. Phiri said child labour can lead to social vulnerability and marginalization which can permanently impair the attainment of personal and productive potential.
