Intellectuals mostly referred to as 'cream' of the country from the Copperbelt University (CBU) and University of Zambia (UNZA) have embarked on cold war.
The source told WestMac Media that students of the two public universities since time immemorial have been dissing each other especially on academic grounds of the two institutions alleging that UNZA offers better education than CBU and CBU student in reaction allege that education at UNZA is easy, students only take four courses in a term adding that even the pass mark is 40% compared to CBU pass mark which is pegged at 50% and students take 8 plus courses at a goal.
The cold war which is often one way of exchanging jokes and releasing stress include remarks such as 'excluded students' from CBU end up enrolling at UNZA and eventually become best students.
And UNZA students says CBU is a university for Copperbelt province but the only national university in Zambia is UNZA.
However, some students from both institutions have bemoaned the ongoing war and have since urged fellow students to concentrate on pressing issues that affect them.
And a named concerned student said issues such as BC allowance increment are worth discussing as they affect the entire student populace.
“BC allowance should be increased to level the imbalance of increment in one end. The prices of goods and services are increasing everyday be it in malls or local markets, the squatting fee is also going to increase,” student said adding that these are things students should reflect on at both institutions.
Meanwhile, other students have called for cease fire adding that it is immature for intellectuals to compare Vice Chancellors to Headmasters, University to Pre-School and mocking other student's programme of study.
