A Patriotic Front (PF) candidate, Dora Siliya has won a parliamentary bye-election which took place yesterday after petauke seat was declared vacant by the Speaker of National Assembly, Dr Patrick Matibini.
Ms. Siliya, the former Transport and Communication Minister in the Movement for Multi Party Democracy (MMD) administration won the seat with a landslide polling 12,833 votes against her close contender, Allan Zulu of UPND who amassed 2, 342 votes.
An outspoken Siliya is expected to step in parley house sooner than later.
Meanwhile, in Malambo bye-election which also took place on 30th June, 2015, PF’s Jacob Shuma polled 4,373 votes against UPND’s Simon Philip 2,582.
By press time, Mulobezi which has been characterised with violence, counting was still going on . The race was tight between the UPND’s Hastings Sililo and PF’s Patricia Mulaskiwanda.
