Miss South Africa, 22-year-old Rolene Strauss, crowned Miss World 2014

Miss South Africa, 22-year-old Rolene Strauss, was crowned Miss World 2014 at the pageant's final in London on Sunday, with an estimated billion viewers watching on television around the globe. 

Miss Hungary, Edina Kulcsar, was the runner-up and Miss United States, Elizabeth Safrit, came third in the 64th annual competition, contested by women from 121 countries.

Nyambe Mulenga, Under Seventeen midfielder Changwe Kalale and Green Eagles Goalkeeper Satcmo Chakawa were traveling to Lusaka for this week's camping when they were involved in this tragedy, near Green Restaurant in Kabwe.

Uganda maid guilty of assaulting toddler

A maid in Uganda secretly filmed beating a baby has been found guilty of assault. 

Jolly Tumuhirwe, 22, told the court she had been driven to attack the 18-month-old because the child’s mother had beaten her, something the mother denied. A video of the assault caused outrage when it was posted online.

Malawi’s representative in the just ended Big Brother season nine reality show, Sipe has come under fire over her citizenship as reports indicate that she is not a Malawian. 

According to Malawi 24 as she was in the Big Brother house, speculations were all over the social media that Malawi was being represented by the one representative, Times TV presenter Mr 265 as rumours spread that Sipe is a Zambian. 

Winnie Mandela Challenges Nelson Mandela's Will

Former wife of the late Nelson Mandela, Winnie Madikizela Mandela, is challenging his late ex-husband’s will, specifically a property in Qunu that was left to the inheritance of Graca Machel, Mandela’s widow. Winnie, in a statement to Sowetan says Graca owns “a whole world in Mozambique” and therefore should not inherit the property in Qunu. 

“This property is mine and I attained it when the old man was on Robben Island, and there’s no dispute about that,” said Winnie. 

When the details of Mandela’s will were revealed with nothing left to the name of Winnie, she filed papers in a court challenging the will and contesting the true owner of the Qunu home last October.
