Kaputa boy shocks Dr Kambwili, secures sponsorship upto University

A 9-year-old boy of Kaputa district has won Dr Chishimba Kambwili's heart and secured sponsorship that will see him through to University.

On Thursday this week, Aubrey Mulenga with his astonishing personality approached Dr Kambwili and asked for a school uniform.

UPND pledge to empower youths with business skills

United Party for National Development (UPND) president, Hakainde Hichilema says UPND is set to help youths to become cadres of entrepreneurship who are ambitious for both their own future and that of our nation. 

In a statement availed to WM Media, Mr Hichilema stated that many youths in Zambia are unemployed. 

“In urban areas around half of males aged 20 to 24 are unemployed. Their frustration at the limited opportunities open to them to earn a decent living is understandable,” he stated.

2016 Mandela Washington Fellowship team losses one member

A Nigeria youth and '2016 Mandela Washington Fellow' has died in Virgina after a tragic accident during a hike at Cascade Falls on Saturday, June 25, 2016. 

John Paul was studying Civic Leadership at Virginia Tech through the 2016 Mandela Washington Fellowship for Young African Leaders. He was 23 years old. 

Michelle Obama dates Liberia to advocate for girls’ education

Michelle Obama has visited Liberia on the first stop of a three-nation tour promoting girls’ education around the world, the cause she plans to carry on after she leaves the White House in January. 

Her mother, Marian Robinson, and daughters Sasha and Malia came along for her latest foreign trip — Morocco and Spain are also on the five-day itinerary — during which she will meet with officials and organizations that support Let Girls Learn, an initiative aimed at improving living conditions for the millions of girls worldwide who are not enrolled in school.

Monze youths warned against political violence

Monze Based Youth Activist Lloyd Siambeta has called for issue based campaigns in the run up to the August 11th elections. 

Mr. Siambeta said violence that has been reported in Monze should not be tolerated. 

Mr. Siambeta has since advised the youths from both the ruling PF and the opposition UPND to sober up and behave like future leaders by avoiding all forms of political violence.

Ministry of General Education spokesperson Hilary Chipango says the Hon. Minister is also conveying his condolences to the families of the deceased and school management.

Luapula youth gang raped by seven men

Outgoing Luapula Province commissioner of police Hudson Namachila says a youth in Luapula province was allegedly gang-raped by seven men. 

In an interview, Mr Namachila said a 23-year-old woman of Mansa in Luapula Province is nursing injuries on her private parts after she was raped.

Aquaculture has potential to curb youth unemployment - Mwale

Aquaculture Development Association of Zambia Chairperson Fisho Mwale says Aquaculture business can create up to 2000 jobs for youths in the country if taken seriously. 

Mr Mwale who is also Yalelo Chairman says the aquaculture business sector has the potential to create employment for the youths if utilized adequately. 

And Mr Mwale has called on youths in the country to take keen interest in the development and promotion of aquaculture.

ZICTA dispels rumors that Vodafone Zambia has been issued with a licence to provide voice services

In light of the rising speculation from the general public and other stakeholders, as evidenced by the numerous enquires that the Zambia Information and Communications Technology Authority (ZICTA) has been receiving recently, the Authority has dispelled the perception that Mobile Broadband Zambia Limited Trading As "Vodafone Zambia "is entering the market as a voice provider.

And ZICTA public relations manager, Ngabo Nankonde said the Authority has not issued a licence permitting any entity other than MTN, Airtel and Zamtel to provide voice services to the public.
